Welcome!

We welcome you heartily to our website! You will note that the Russian portion of this site is by far the most thorough. But we also have a large number of press releases – many from my own pen – on the English and German pages. I hope they will offer insite into evangelical developments within Russia.

The Protestants of Russia have a long history of cooperation with the German Evangelical Alliance. Even today, the contacts remain close: Pastor Ulrich Materne, a former East German, has served for years as the German Alliance’s representative to Eastern Europe. Every year he visits churches and interested groups in Russia. The German Alliance also has its annual conference every year in early August on its long-time grounds in Bad Blankenburg near Saalfeld in Thuringia. English-speaking guests are always welcome there; the conference’s primary sermons and lectures are translated simultaneously into English.

The Alliance is faring well in some regions of Russia. There are also many initiatives with the same concerns as those of the Alliance – they only happen to have a different name. Most important for us is not the name, but rather content and intention. We remained deeply convinced of the very strong need for cooperation between the Protestant denominations of Russia.

If you are in North America or the UK, then we could well imagine that someone from the Russian Alliance would visit your church. That would of course require longer-term planning and organization. Please note our addresses on the Contacts page. We are always grateful for all spiritual and material support.

With the very best wishes, in Christ,

William Yoder, Ph.D., Moscow-Orsha-Berlin

The EEA's Confession of Faith

  • The European Evangelical Alliance is a fellowship of Christians who accept the revelation of the triune God given in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament and confess the faith of the Gospel therein set forth. They assert the following doctrines which they regard as crucial to the understanding of the faith, and which should issue in mutual love, practical Christian service and evangelistic concern:

    • The sovereignty and grace of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit in creation, providence, revelation, redemption, final judgement and consummation.

    • The divine inspiration of Holy Scripture and its entire trustworthiness and supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

    • The universal sinfulness and guilt of fallen man, making him subject to God's wrath and condemnation.

    • The substitutionary sacrifice of the incarnate Son of God as the sole and all-sufficient ground of redemption from the guilt and power of sin, and from its eternal consequences.

    • The justification of the sinner solely by the grace of God through faith in Christ crucified and risen from the dead.

    • The illuminating, regenerating, indwelling and sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit.

    • The priesthood of all believers, who form the Universal Church, the body of which Christ is the head, and which is committed by His command to the proclamation of the Gospel throughout the world.

    • The expectation of the personal, visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ, in power and glory.
